We helped this young family in Central Park create an outdoor retreat in the midst of an urban neighborhood. The simple deck with clean lines is an open, inviting kitchen and dining space. Guests are drawn into a cozy enclave just below. The nook is tastefully decorated with the client’s own signature nesting chair and an abundance of comfy cushions.

The stone wall with natural stone cap makes the lower space a separate outdoor living area. It also serves as extra seating on the deck. A custom fire pit is the focal point, with ample lighting provided by landscape lights and overhead string lights. It’s an ideal gathering place for any time of day.

Concrete slabs are paired with a traditional stone wall to create a neutral backdrop. Grass sod provides a soft border, continuing into the rest of the yard as an open play space. Low maintenance plantings enhance the garden space while giving a natural feel.
